Your Next Entrepreneurial Adventure: Self Care!

As an entrepreneur, you tend to have a laser focus on your business(es). After that comes time with loved ones, and, ideally, some sleep thrown in there. But have you ever thought about taking care of YOU? As an entrepreneur, it’s important to take some time for yourself and practice self-care. Here, L’Aquila Active will discuss delegation at work, going for regular walks, meditation, working out, and online therapy.

Delegate at work

When you start your own business or take over another, it’s hard not to give yourself a role in every aspect of the company. When you delegate, however, you essentially multiply yourself by dividing and multiplying work with employees. Delegation isn’t just crucial when you’re out of the office; it plays a major role in your work/life balance and personal wellbeing. It’s also a chance to show your employees that you trust them and care about giving them valuable skills. This can create stronger relationships between you and your subordinates, so it’s a double win: you have more time for self care and you’re making your team stronger.

Take walks outside

Let’s be honest: sometimes your responsibilities can become so overwhelming that you get cranky and it’s hard to break out of the bad mood. According to Health Digest, vitamin D — sometimes called the “sunshine vitamin” — can play a vital role in regulating your mood. Most of this vitamin is absorbed through sun exposure, which means walking outside should be a regular habit. Not only will you potentially burn off some of your frustrations, but you’ll be collecting a mood-boosting vitamin that can really help you relax and find peace. Walking is the ultimate self-care practice.

Meditation

As an entrepreneur, you no doubt have thoughts racing through your mind at any given moment. Quieting this chaos is a challenge, and that’s where meditation steps in. As Verywell Mind explains, “[Meditation] can help you reverse your body’s stress response and physically relax.” The best thing about it is that you can do it anywhere, anytime. You can find a quiet, relaxing space at home, step outside, or even take a few moments to meditate at your desk. The steps are easy: find a comfortable sitting position, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. When your mind starts to wander, simply bring your attention back to the breath. In time you’ll feel yourself relax both physically and mentally, and your problems just might seem less daunting. And what’s also great about meditation is that many stock investors use it to make better decisions, and calm down in the face of chaos. And for an entrepreneur, being able to make prudent and wise decision is imperative.

Work out

A lot of people find working out to be more of a hassle than a luxury. If this includes you, reframe the way you see exercise as something you get to do versus something you’re obligated to do. It’s one of the easiest ways to get your endorphins flowing, improving your mood and setting you up for a better day. And like meditation, you can do it almost anytime. You can do it first thing in the morning, on your lunch break, after work, or at night. Regardless of the time, it’ll help you burn off stress and make you feel physically and mentally, better.

Online therapy

Sometimes, we all need extra help. If other strategies aren’t working and you’re still completely overwhelmed from your entrepreneurial duties, consider online mental health services. Virtual therapy allows you to choose from a wide array of licensed professionals, and it remains secure and private, just like in-person therapy. When finding the best options for you, look for therapists who offer free consultations to help you find the right professional.

Just because you’re a busy entrepreneur doesn’t mean you haven’t earned self-care; in fact, it might mean you need it even more! With the right work delegation, regular walks outside, meditation, working out, and seeking online therapy, you can ease your stress and live a happier, healthier life.
